Voice Synthesizer was made possible by Speech Manager, from Apple Computer Inc.
If you computer is running under a System less than 7.1, you may not have Speech Manager. (The extension may not function).
To install Speech Manager into your computer, drop it into the extensions folder and restart your computer. (If it has installed correctly, you will see the Speech Manager icon at startup. If it has not, it will be X'ed out.)
Voice Synthesizer allows you to create any lines of text into a voice of three different types, male, female, or non-sex (nuetered). (Not all voices may work on all types of computers.)
If you allready have Speech Manager, throw away the copy that came with this application (it will be of no use).
VS 1.2 has 3 voice options. Select a certain type of voice from the menu bar. The standard startup voice is male. You can adjust how fast the voice speaks by Setting the Speed, in the Set Speed item of the Voice menu. The standard is 150. Speech cannot be performed over 1000, or below 5. (The speed of speed is measured in words per minute).
Type in a message, (as long as you like [not too long]) and select Say from the Voice menu, or press Command-S.
It will begin to say whatever you typed in. You can perform other functions while the voice is speaking. If a voice is currently speaking when you quit the application, the voice will stop.
